Dropbox Integration

'Connect Dropbox to Supervity, authorize access, and use Dropbox data and actions in operators and workflows.'

This guide explains how to connect Dropbox to Supervity, what data is available after connection, how operators can use Dropbox data and actions within workflows, and how to remove the integration when needed.

Overview

The Supervity Dropbox integration allows your workspace to securely connect Dropbox as a governed platform capability.

Once connected, operators and workflows can use Dropbox data and actions to automate business processes, retrieve file and folder details, manage cloud storage, and coordinate work across systems.

With the Dropbox integration, Supervity can:

  • Access file and folder metadata from your Dropbox account
  • Download, upload, update, and delete files
  • Create, copy, move, and delete folders
  • Search files and folders within your storage
  • Create, retrieve, and revoke shared links for assets
  • Retrieve user and account information
  • Use Dropbox data as context for operators
  • Trigger workflows based on cloud storage activity

All Dropbox access is governed through Supervity's security, permissions, and audit controls.

Prerequisites

Before connecting Dropbox, ensure you have:

  • An active Supervity workspace
  • A Dropbox account (Personal, Professional, or Business)
  • Permission to authorize applications on your Dropbox account
  • Access to the Dropbox storage containing the files and folders you want to use

Depending on your Dropbox plan, some features such as team folders or specific sharing administrative settings may require administrator-level licensing or permissions.

Supervity follows least-privilege principles and only accesses data necessary to provide requested functionality.

Authentication & Security

The Dropbox integration uses OAuth 2.0 authentication.

Security controls include:

  • Encrypted credential storage (AES-256)
  • Least-privilege access scopes
  • Token refresh and rotation support
  • Immediate revocation capabilities
  • Workspace-level governance controls
  • Complete audit logging
  • TLS 1.3 for all API and UI connections

All Dropbox access remains subject to Supervity security policies and role-based permissions.

Managing the Integration

View Connection Status

From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.

For Dropbox you can view:

  • Connection status

  • Associated workflows and operators

Reconnect Dropbox

If Dropbox authorization expires or security policies change:

  1. Open the Integrations page from the left navigation bar.
  2. Select Dropbox.
  3. Click Reconnect.
  4. Complete authorization again.

Existing workflows and operators do not need to be recreated.

Removing the Dropbox Integration

You can remove the Dropbox connection from your Supervity workspace at any time directly from within the Supervity platform.

Steps to Remove

  1. Log in to Supervity.
  2. From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.
  3. Locate and select Dropbox from the integrations list.
  4. Click Disconnect.
  5. Confirm the action when prompted.

Implications of Removal

Once removed:

  • Supervity immediately loses all access to your Dropbox account and associated data
  • No new Dropbox data will be read or processed after removal
  • All active Dropbox connections within your Supervity workspace are terminated
  • Scheduled or active workflows that depend on Dropbox will stop executing
  • Dropbox-dependent workflow steps will fail safely with clear error messages
  • Existing workflow definitions within Supervity are not deleted — only the Dropbox connection is terminated
  • Historical execution logs remain available for auditing purposes

Disconnecting Dropbox does not delete workflow definitions, operators, or previously generated outputs.

How Your Data Is Handled After Removal

Data Handling on Removal:

  • Supervity immediately loses access to your Dropbox account upon removal
  • No new Dropbox data will be collected or processed after disconnection
  • Temporary files processed during workflow execution are deleted after execution completes
  • Dropbox access tokens and all account-related data are permanently deleted from Supervity's platform within 15 minutes of disconnection — no background access continues after removal

Auditing & Observability

All Dropbox activity performed through Supervity is logged.

Audit records include:

  • Which operator requested access
  • Which workflow executed the action
  • Timestamp of execution
  • Success or failure status
  • Relevant inputs and outputs (redacted when sensitive)

This supports compliance, troubleshooting, governance, and operational visibility.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues at any stage, refer to the steps below. For issues not covered here, contact the Supervity support team.

Authorization Failed During Setup

Likely Cause: Incorrect Dropbox account used, or insufficient permissions to authorize applications.

Resolution:

  1. Ensure you are signed in to the correct Dropbox account.
  2. Confirm you have permission to authorize third-party applications on your Dropbox account.
  3. Return to Supervity → Integrations → Dropbox and click Connect to retry.
  4. If the issue persists, contact your Dropbox account administrator.

Dropbox Shows Connected but Data Is Missing

Likely Cause: Required permissions were not granted during authorization, or file paths are inaccessible to the connected user.

Resolution:

  1. Verify that all required permissions were accepted during the OAuth authorization step.
  2. Confirm that the path you are requesting exists and is accessible to the connected Dropbox account.
  3. Verify folder share permissions to ensure the connected user has read/write privileges.
  4. Reconnect the integration via Integrations → Dropbox → Reconnect to refresh permissions.

Connection Expired or Token Invalid

Likely Cause: OAuth tokens may expire or be revoked by Dropbox.

Resolution:

  1. Go to Integrations → Dropbox → Reconnect.
  2. Complete the Dropbox authorization flow again.
  3. Existing workflows do not need to be reconfigured after reconnection.

Workflow Cannot Access Dropbox

Likely Cause: Dropbox may have been disconnected, or workspace governance policies restrict access.

Resolution:

  1. Confirm Dropbox is still connected under the Integrations page.
  2. Verify the workflow has permission to use Dropbox within your workspace governance settings.
  3. Check that workspace policies allow Dropbox execution for the relevant operators or workflows.

File Upload or Download Fails

Likely Cause: Large file size limitations, network timeouts, or invalid paths.

Resolution:

  1. Confirm the target file path is formatted correctly (e.g., must start with a slash /).
  2. Check that your Dropbox storage account has sufficient available space.
  3. Verify the file size is within supported ranges.
  4. Check execution logs to identify any specific path or permission conflicts.

Likely Cause: The file does not exist, or security policies in your Dropbox team account restrict generating public links.

Resolution:

  1. Confirm the file or folder is present at the specified path.
  2. Check with your Dropbox team administrator to verify that external link sharing is permitted.
  3. Verify you are not attempting to generate a link for an asset that already has a shared link.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is my Dropbox password shared with or stored by Supervity?

No. Supervity uses Dropbox's standard OAuth 2.0 authorization flow. Your Dropbox password is never shared with or stored by Supervity. Only scoped access tokens are stored, and these are encrypted at rest using AES-256.
