Mailchimp Integration

'Connect Mailchimp to Supervity, manage audiences, subscribers, trigger campaigns, and track reports in operators and workflows.'

This guide explains how to connect Mailchimp to Supervity, what data is available after connection, how operators can use Mailchimp data and actions within workflows, and how to remove the integration when needed.

Overview

The Supervity Mailchimp integration allows your workspace to securely connect Mailchimp as a governed platform capability.

Once connected, operators and workflows can use Mailchimp data and actions to organize marketing audiences, automate subscriber management, structure custom tags, deploy campaigns, and retrieve detailed analytics.

With the Mailchimp integration, Supervity can:

  • Manage marketing audiences
  • Control subscriber lists
  • Categorize members
  • Review analytics
  • Manage layout templates
  • Structure list segments
  • Retrieve audience tags

All Mailchimp access is governed through Supervity's security, permissions, and audit controls.

Prerequisites

Before connecting Mailchimp, ensure you have:

  • An active Supervity workspace
  • An active Mailchimp account
  • Permission to authorize third-party applications on your Mailchimp account

Depending on your account configuration, some administrative operations may require Owner permissions in Mailchimp.

Adding the Mailchimp Integration

Follow these steps to connect Mailchimp to Supervity. If you encounter any issues during setup, refer to the Troubleshooting section of this guide.

Step 1: Open Integrations

  1. Log in to Supervity.
  2. From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.

This opens the Integrations page, where all available integrations are listed. Connected integrations and available integrations can both be managed from this page.

Step 2: Select Mailchimp

  1. Locate Mailchimp in the available integrations list.
  2. Click Connect.

Step 3: Authorize Access

You will be redirected to Mailchimp's secure authorization page.

Enter your Mailchimp login credentials, review the requested permissions, and click Allow (or Authorize) to grant Supervity access to your Mailchimp account.

Supervity uses Mailchimp's standard OAuth 2.0 authorization flow. Your Mailchimp credentials are never shared with or stored by Supervity.

Step 4: Complete Connection

After authorization, you will be redirected back to Supervity. The Mailchimp integration will appear as Connected on the Integrations page. Your workspace can now securely access Mailchimp capabilities according to the permissions granted.

How Mailchimp Works in Supervity

After connection, Mailchimp becomes available as a governed platform tool.

Operators can use Mailchimp capabilities when planning and executing tasks, while workflows can automate actions using Mailchimp data.

Common use cases include:

  • Automatically adding new leads captured from contact web forms to your newsletter audience
  • Applying purchase-specific tags to customer profiles inside Mailchimp
  • Deploying or scheduling marketing newsletter campaigns dynamically
  • Pulling campaign report statistics to populate marketing analytics boards
  • Syncing segments and templates across databases

Using Mailchimp in Operators

Connected Mailchimp capabilities become available to operators automatically. Operators determine when Mailchimp data or actions are required to complete a task and execute accordingly, while remaining governed by workspace permissions, security controls, and approval policies.

What Operators Can Do with Mailchimp

Operators can perform the following actions using Mailchimp:

  • List audiences and retrieve specific audience details
  • List subscribers, get details, add new contacts, update info, or delete subscribers
  • Manage tags by adding or removing member tags
  • List campaign lists, create campaigns, edit parameters, delete drafts, send emails, or schedule runs
  • Fetch email performance metrics (such as opens, clicks, and bounces) from campaign reports
  • List layout templates
  • List segments and create custom segments for list filters
  • Get current audience tags

Typical Operator Use Cases

Use CaseExample
Subscriber IngestionAdd new leads to a specific newsletter audience after form completions
Audience TaggingApply or remove tags from customer profiles based on action events
Newsletter DeploymentCreate draft campaigns, set templates, and send or schedule newsletters
Campaign ReviewRetrieve performance logs (click rates) from sent campaigns to generate reports

Supervity follows least-privilege principles and only accesses data necessary to provide requested functionality.

Authentication & Security

The Mailchimp integration uses OAuth 2.0 authentication.

Security controls include:

  • Encrypted credential storage (AES-256)
  • Scoped access policies
  • Token refresh and rotation support
  • Immediate revocation capabilities
  • Workspace-level governance controls
  • Complete audit logging
  • TLS 1.3 for all connection pipelines

Managing the Integration

View Connection Status

From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.

For Mailchimp you can view:

  • Connection status
  • Connected account name
  • Last usage information
  • Associated workflows and operators

Reconnect Mailchimp

If Mailchimp authorization expires: Open the Integrations page from the left navigation bar. Select Mailchimp. Click Reconnect. Complete authorization again through the Mailchimp portal.

Existing workflows and operators do not need to be recreated.

Removing the Mailchimp Integration

You can remove the Mailchimp connection from your Supervity workspace at any time directly from within the Supervity platform.

Steps to Remove

Log in to Supervity. From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon. Locate and select Mailchimp from the integrations list. Click Disconnect. Confirm the action when prompted.

Implications of Removal

Once removed:

  • Supervity immediately loses all access to your Mailchimp account and lists
  • No new Mailchimp data will be read or processed after removal
  • All active Mailchimp connections within your Supervity workspace are terminated
  • Scheduled or active workflows that depend on Mailchimp will stop executing
  • Mailchimp-dependent workflow steps will fail safely with clear error messages
  • Existing workflow definitions within Supervity are not deleted — only the active connection is terminated
  • Historical execution logs remain available for auditing purposes

Disconnecting Mailchimp does not delete workflow definitions, operators, or previously generated outputs.

How Your Data Is Handled After Removal

Data Handling on Removal:

  • Supervity immediately loses access to your Mailchimp account upon removal
  • No new Mailchimp audiences, campaigns, or report data will be collected or processed after disconnection
  • Temporary files processed during workflow execution are deleted after execution completes
  • Mailchimp access tokens and all account-related data are permanently deleted from Supervity's platform within 15 minutes of disconnection — no background access continues after removal

Auditing & Observability

All Mailchimp activity performed through Supervity is logged.

Audit records include:

  • Which operator requested access
  • Which workflow executed the action
  • Timestamp of execution
  • Success or failure status
  • Relevant inputs and outputs (sensitive values are redacted)

This supports compliance, troubleshooting, governance, and operational visibility.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues at any stage, refer to the steps below. For issues not covered here, contact the Supervity support team.

Authorization Failed During Setup

Likely Cause: Incorrect Mailchimp account credentials, or corporate tenant policies restricting third-party applications.

Resolution:

  1. Ensure you are signed in to the correct Mailchimp account.
  2. Return to Supervity → Integrations → Mailchimp and click Connect to retry.
  3. If the issue persists, contact your IT administrator.

Audience Not Found (Mismatched IDs)

Likely Cause: The target Audience List has been deleted in Mailchimp, or the list ID input in the workflow is incorrect.

Resolution:

  1. Log in to Mailchimp and open the Audience dashboard.
  2. Confirm the audience exists and copy its unique List ID from settings.
  3. Update the List ID parameter in your workflow execution step.

Connection Expired or Token Invalid

Likely Cause: Security policies may force token expiration or revocation.

Resolution:

  1. Go to Integrations → Mailchimp → Reconnect.
  2. Complete the Mailchimp authorization flow again.
  3. Existing workflows do not need to be reconfigured after reconnection.

Workflow Cannot Access Mailchimp

Likely Cause: Mailchimp may have been disconnected, or workspace governance policies may restrict access.

Resolution:

  1. Confirm Mailchimp is still connected under the Integrations page.
  2. Verify the workflow has permission to use Mailchimp within your workspace governance settings.
  3. Check that workspace policies allow Mailchimp execution for the relevant operators or workflows.
