Zendesk Integration

'Connect Zendesk to Supervity, authorize access, and use Zendesk data and actions in operators and workflows.'

This guide explains how to connect Zendesk to Supervity, what data is available after connection, how operators can use Zendesk data and actions within workflows, and how to remove the integration when needed.

Overview

The Supervity Zendesk integration allows your workspace to securely connect Zendesk as a governed platform capability.

Once connected, operators and workflows can use Zendesk data and actions to automate business processes, manage customer support tickets, coordinate help center content, and synchronize user information across systems.

With the Zendesk integration, Supervity can:

  • Access ticket information and status from your Zendesk account
  • Retrieve and add ticket comments and internal notes
  • Manage user profiles and roles
  • Retrieve organizational and group details
  • Access customer satisfaction ratings and feedback
  • Create and manage Help Center articles
  • Retrieve authenticated user details
  • Use Zendesk data as context for operators
  • Trigger workflows based on Zendesk activity

All Zendesk access is governed through Supervity's security, permissions, and audit controls.

Prerequisites

Before connecting Zendesk, ensure you have:

  • An active Supervity workspace
  • A Zendesk account (Support, Suite, or Help Center plans)
  • Your Zendesk subdomain (e.g., "mycompany") or full URL
  • Permission to authorize applications on your Zendesk account
  • Access to the Zendesk account containing the data you want to use

Depending on your Zendesk plan, some data types such as satisfaction ratings or Help Center article management may require specific Zendesk features to be enabled.

Adding the Zendesk Integration

Follow these steps to connect Zendesk to Supervity. If you encounter any issues during setup, refer to the Troubleshooting section of this guide.

Step 1: Open Integrations

  1. Log in to Supervity.
  2. From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.

This opens the Integrations page, where all available integrations are listed. Connected integrations and available integrations can both be managed from this page.

Step 2: Select Zendesk

  1. Locate Zendesk in the available integrations list.
  2. Click Connect.

Step 3: Authorize Access

You will be prompted to enter your Zendesk subdomain and then redirected to Zendesk's authorization page.

  1. Enter your Zendesk subdomain (e.g., mycompany) and click Continue.
  2. Review the requested permissions and click Allow to grant Supervity access to your Zendesk account.
  • Supervity uses Zendesk's standard OAuth 2.0 authorization flow.
  • Your Zendesk password is never shared with or stored by Supervity.

Step 4: Complete Connection

After authorization, you will be redirected back to Supervity.

The Zendesk integration will appear as Connected on the Integrations page. Your workspace can now securely access Zendesk capabilities according to the permissions granted.

Authentication & Security

The Zendesk integration uses OAuth 2.0 authentication.

Security controls include:

  • Encrypted credential storage (AES-256)
  • Least-privilege access scopes
  • Token refresh and rotation support
  • Immediate revocation capabilities
  • Workspace-level governance controls
  • Complete audit logging
  • TLS 1.3 for all API and UI connections

All Zendesk access remains subject to Supervity security policies and role-based permissions.

Managing the Integration

View Connection Status

From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.

For Zendesk you can view:

  • Connection status
  • Granted permissions
  • Last usage information
  • Associated workflows and operators

Reconnect Zendesk

If Zendesk authorization expires:

  1. Open the Integrations page from the left navigation bar.
  2. Select Zendesk.
  3. Click Reconnect.
  4. Complete authorization again.

Existing workflows and operators do not need to be recreated.

Removing the Zendesk Integration

You can remove the Zendesk connection from your Supervity workspace at any time directly from within the Supervity platform.

Steps to Remove

  1. Log in to Supervity.
  2. From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.
  3. Locate and select Zendesk from the integrations list.
  4. Click Disconnect.
  5. Confirm the action when prompted.

Implications of Removal

Once removed:

  • Supervity immediately loses all access to your Zendesk account and associated data
  • No new Zendesk data will be read or processed after removal
  • All active Zendesk connections within your Supervity workspace are terminated
  • Scheduled or active workflows that depend on Zendesk will stop executing
  • Zendesk-dependent workflow steps will fail safely with clear error messages
  • Existing workflow definitions within Supervity are not deleted — only the Zendesk connection is terminated
  • Historical execution logs remain available for auditing purposes

Disconnecting Zendesk does not delete workflow definitions, operators, or previously generated outputs.

How Your Data Is Handled After Removal

Data Handling on Removal:

  • Supervity immediately loses access to your Zendesk account upon removal
  • No new Zendesk data will be collected or processed after disconnection
  • Temporary files processed during workflow execution are deleted after execution completes
  • Zendesk access tokens and all account-related data are permanently deleted from Supervity's platform within 15 minutes of disconnection — no background access continues after removal

Deauthorization Handling

When you disconnect Zendesk from Supervity, Supervity:

  • Revokes and permanently deletes all stored access tokens and account-related data for your Zendesk account within 15 minutes
  • Terminates all active Zendesk connections associated with your workspace
  • Stops all scheduled or active workflows that depend on Zendesk access
  • Logs the disconnection event for audit and compliance purposes

Auditing & Observability

All Zendesk activity performed through Supervity is logged.

Audit records include:

  • Which operator requested access
  • Which workflow executed the action
  • Timestamp of execution
  • Success or failure status
  • Relevant inputs and outputs (redacted when sensitive)

This supports compliance, troubleshooting, governance, and operational visibility.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues at any stage, refer to the steps below. For issues not covered here, contact the Supervity support team.

Authorization Failed During Setup

Likely Cause: Incorrect Zendesk subdomain provided, or insufficient permissions to authorize applications.

Resolution:

  1. Ensure you have entered the correct subdomain (e.g., mycompany) without extra spaces or slashes.
  2. Confirm you are logged in to the correct Zendesk account in your browser.
  3. Verify that you have administrative or appropriate permissions to authorize OAuth applications.
  4. Return to Supervity → Integrations → Zendesk and click Connect to retry.

Zendesk Shows Connected but Data Is Missing

Likely Cause: Required permissions were not granted during authorization, or the feature is not active in your Zendesk plan.

Resolution:

  1. Verify that the requested data (e.g., Help Center articles) is enabled and exists in your Zendesk account.
  2. Confirm that the user who authorized the integration has the required permissions to view that specific data in Zendesk.
  3. Reconnect the integration via Integrations → Zendesk → Reconnect to refresh permissions.

Connection Expired or Token Invalid

Likely Cause: OAuth tokens may expire or be revoked by a Zendesk administrator.

Resolution:

  1. Go to Integrations → Zendesk → Reconnect.
  2. Complete the Zendesk authorization flow again.
  3. Existing workflows do not need to be reconfigured after reconnection.

Workflow Cannot Access Zendesk

Likely Cause: Zendesk may have been disconnected, or workspace governance policies may restrict access.

Resolution:

  1. Confirm Zendesk is still connected under the Integrations page.
  2. Verify the workflow has permission to use Zendesk within your workspace governance settings.
  3. Check for any Zendesk-side restrictions on the API or the specific user account.

Help Center Operations Failing

Likely Cause: The account does not have permission to publish content.

Resolution:

  1. Verify the section ID or article ID used in the workflow is correct.
  2. Ensure the connected account has "Manager" or equivalent permissions for Help Center content.

Ticket Creation or Updates Fail

Likely Cause: Missing required fields, invalid user IDs, or ticket status restrictions.

Resolution:

  1. Review the workflow inputs to ensure all required fields (like Subject and Body) are provided.
  2. Check if the ticket being updated is "Closed"—Zendesk does not allow updates to closed tickets.
  3. Verify that the user or agent IDs provided in the workflow exist in your Zendesk account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is my Zendesk password shared with or stored by Supervity?

No. Supervity uses Zendesk's standard OAuth 2.0 authorization flow. Your Zendesk password is never shared with or stored by Supervity. Only scoped access tokens are stored, and these are encrypted at rest using AES-256.

Q: What Zendesk plan do I need to use all features?

Basic ticketing and user management work with most Zendesk plans. Features such as satisfaction ratings or Help Center article management require specific modules (Guide, etc.) to be active in your Zendesk instance.

Q: Will I need to reconfigure my workflows after reconnecting Zendesk?

No. If you reconnect Zendesk due to token expiry or permission changes, existing workflow definitions and operators do not need to be recreated or reconfigured.

Q: What happens to my workflows if I disconnect or remove Zendesk?

Workflow definitions are not deleted when Zendesk is disconnected or removed. However, any workflow steps that depend on Zendesk will fail safely with clear error messages until Zendesk is reconnected.

Q: How do I authorize the Supervity Zendesk integration?

Log in to Supervity at Supervity, navigate to the Integrations page, locate Zendesk, and click Connect. Provide your Zendesk subdomain when prompted and follow the authorization steps on the Zendesk website. After approval, you will be redirected back to Supervity automatically. See the Adding the Zendesk Integration section above for full step-by-step instructions.

Q: Can I limit which Zendesk data Supervity can access?

Supervity requests only the permissions required for enabled capabilities, following least-privilege principles. You can review all requested access types during the OAuth authorization step before approving.
