Salesforce Integration

'Connect Salesforce to Supervity, authorize access, and use Salesforce CRM data and actions in operators and workflows.'

This guide explains how to connect Salesforce to Supervity, what CRM data is available after connection, how operators can use Salesforce data and actions within workflows, and how to remove the integration when needed.

Overview

The Supervity Salesforce integration allows your workspace to securely connect Salesforce as a governed platform capability.

Once connected, operators and workflows can use Salesforce CRM data and actions to automate sales processes, manage customer relationships, organize pipeline records, and coordinate customer-facing operations across systems.

With the Salesforce integration, Supervity can:

  • Manage leads: Create, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search leads
  • Manage contacts: Create, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search contacts
  • Manage accounts: Create, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search accounts
  • Manage opportunities: Create, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search opportunities
  • Manage tasks: Create, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search tasks
  • Use Salesforce CRM records and relationships as context for operators
  • Trigger workflows based on CRM activity and pipeline updates

All Salesforce access is governed through Supervity's security, permissions, and audit controls.

Prerequisites

Before connecting Salesforce, ensure you have:

  • An active Supervity workspace
  • A Salesforce account (Production, Developer, or Sandbox environment)
  • Permission to authorize applications (Connected Apps) on your Salesforce account
  • The login base URL for your Salesforce instance (e.g., https://login.salesforce.com for production or https://test.salesforce.com for sandboxes)

Depending on your Salesforce organization policies, administrator approval may be required before authorizing third-party applications or connected apps in your Salesforce environment.

Step 3: Configure Base URL and Authorize Access

You will see a configuration dialog requesting your Salesforce Login URL.

  1. Optionally enter your Salesforce login base URL.
    • For standard production or developer environments, you can leave it blank (it defaults to https://login.salesforce.com).
    • For sandboxes or custom domain logins, enter the appropriate URL (e.g. https://test.salesforce.com or your company's custom login domain).
  2. Click Proceed to be redirected to Salesforce's secure login and authorization page.
  3. Sign in to your Salesforce account if prompted.
  4. Review the requested access permissions and click Allow to grant Supervity access to your Salesforce CRM data.
  • Supervity uses Salesforce's standard OAuth 2.0 authorization flow.
  • Your Salesforce password is never shared with or stored by Supervity.

Step 4: Complete Connection

After authorization, you will be redirected back to Supervity.

The Salesforce integration will appear as Connected on the Integrations page. Your workspace can now securely access Salesforce capabilities according to the permissions granted.

How Salesforce Works in Supervity

After connection, Salesforce becomes available as a governed platform tool.

Operators can use Salesforce capabilities when planning and executing tasks, while workflows can automate actions using Salesforce CRM records.

Common use cases include:

  • Syncing leads and contacts automatically from customer acquisition channels
  • Creating and updating client accounts based on contract sign-offs
  • Managing opportunities and tracking sales pipeline progress programmatically
  • Scheduling and updating follow-up tasks for sales representatives
  • Querying and searching CRM data to generate business reports
  • Synchronizing CRM activity with support desk, billing, or messaging applications

Using Salesforce in Operators

Connected Salesforce capabilities become available to operators automatically. Operators determine when Salesforce data or actions are required to complete a task and execute accordingly, while remaining governed by workspace permissions, security controls, and approval policies.

What Operators Can Do with Salesforce

Operators can perform the following actions using Salesforce:

  • Manage leads (create, get details, update status, delete, query list, and search text)
  • Manage contacts (create, get details, update status, delete, query list, and search text)
  • Manage accounts (create, get details, update, delete, query list, and search text)
  • Manage opportunities (create, get details, update stage, delete, query list, and search text)
  • Manage tasks (create, get details, update status, delete, query list, and search text)
  • Execute custom queries to filter and locate records
  • Search across CRM records using keyword phrases
  • Combine Salesforce operations with other connected applications for end-to-end automation

Typical Operator Use Cases

Use CaseExample
Lead IngestionCreate new leads automatically when lead form submissions are captured
Contact SynchronizationUpdate contact records when user profile changes occur in external systems
Account LifecycleUpdate client accounts from 'Prospect' to 'Active Customer' when onboarding is complete
Opportunity UpdatesProgress opportunities to the next stage upon receiving contract approvals
Task AutomationAuto-create and assign follow-up tasks to sales representatives
Custom CRM ReportingQuery accounts or opportunities matching specific criteria for sales summaries
Cross-System CoordinationUpdate customer records in Salesforce when a payment event is detected

Permissions Requested

Supervity does not request individual scopes during the OAuth 2.0 authorization flow. Instead, access permissions default to the scopes configured within your Salesforce Connected App.

Depending on how your Salesforce administrator has configured the Connected App, the integration can perform operations across the following areas:

Permission TypePurpose
Lead ManagementCreate, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search leads
Contact ManagementCreate, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search contacts
Account ManagementCreate, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search accounts
Opportunity ManagementCreate, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search opportunities
Task ManagementCreate, retrieve, update, delete, query, and search tasks

Supervity follows least-privilege principles and only accesses data necessary to provide requested functionality.

Authentication & Security

The Salesforce integration uses OAuth 2.0 authentication.

Security controls include:

  • Encrypted credential storage (AES-256)
  • Customizable login instance (defaults to production login domain, with support for sandbox logins)
  • Token refresh and rotation support
  • Immediate revocation capabilities
  • Workspace-level governance controls
  • Complete audit logging
  • TLS 1.3 for all API and UI connections

All Salesforce access remains subject to Supervity security policies and role-based permissions.

Managing the Integration

View Connection Status

From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.

For Salesforce you can view:

  • Connection status
  • Granted permissions
  • Last usage information
  • Associated workflows and operators

Reconnect Salesforce

If Salesforce authorization expires or security policies change:

  1. Open the Integrations page from the left navigation bar.
  2. Select Salesforce.
  3. Click Reconnect.
  4. Complete authorization again.

Existing workflows and operators do not need to be recreated.

Removing the Salesforce Integration

You can remove the Salesforce connection from your Supervity workspace at any time directly from within the Supervity platform.

Steps to Remove

  1. Log in to Supervity.
  2. From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.
  3. Locate and select Salesforce from the integrations list.
  4. Click Disconnect.
  5. Confirm the action when prompted.

Implications of Removal

Once removed:

  • Supervity immediately loses all access to your Salesforce account and associated data
  • No new Salesforce data will be read or processed after removal
  • All active Salesforce connections within your Supervity workspace are terminated
  • Scheduled or active workflows that depend on Salesforce will stop executing
  • Salesforce-dependent workflow steps will fail safely with clear error messages
  • Existing workflow definitions within Supervity are not deleted — only the Salesforce connection is terminated
  • Historical execution logs remain available for auditing purposes

Disconnecting Salesforce does not delete workflow definitions, operators, or previously generated outputs.

How Your Data Is Handled After Removal

Data Handling on Removal:

  • Supervity immediately loses access to your Salesforce account upon removal
  • No new Salesforce data will be collected or processed after disconnection
  • Temporary data/files processed during workflow execution are deleted after execution completes
  • Salesforce access tokens and all account-related data are permanently deleted from Supervity's platform within 15 minutes of disconnection — no background access continues after removal

Auditing & Observability

All Salesforce activity performed through Supervity is logged.

Audit records include:

  • Which operator requested access
  • Which workflow executed the action
  • Timestamp of execution
  • Success or failure status
  • Relevant inputs and outputs (redacted when sensitive)

This supports compliance, troubleshooting, governance, and operational visibility.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues at any stage, refer to the steps below. For issues not covered here, contact the Supervity support team.

Authorization Failed During Setup

Likely Cause: Incorrect login instance used (e.g. logging into sandbox account via production URL), incorrect credentials, or Connected App restrictions.

Resolution:

  1. Check if you are trying to connect to a Salesforce Sandbox. If so, make sure to enter the Sandbox URL (https://test.salesforce.com) in the Login URL box during connection.
  2. Confirm you are signed in to the correct Salesforce account.
  3. Verify with your Salesforce administrator that user API access and third-party OAuth app authorization are allowed.
  4. Return to Supervity → Integrations → Salesforce and click Connect to retry.

Salesforce Shows Connected but CRM Records Are Missing

Likely Cause: Insufficient user object/field-level permissions or sharing settings in Salesforce.

Resolution:

  1. Verify that your Salesforce user profile has read access to the relevant objects (Leads, Contacts, Accounts, Opportunities, Tasks).
  2. Confirm that sharing rules or organization-wide defaults do not restrict access to target records.
  3. Reconnect the integration via Integrations → Salesforce → Reconnect to refresh connection context.

Connection Expired or Token Invalid

Likely Cause: OAuth tokens may expire or be revoked by Salesforce policies (e.g. maximum session timeout or Connected App revocation).

Resolution:

  1. Go to Integrations → Salesforce → Reconnect.
  2. Complete the Salesforce authorization flow again.
  3. Existing workflows do not need to be reconfigured after reconnection.

Workflow Cannot Access Salesforce

Likely Cause: Salesforce may have been disconnected, or workspace governance policies restrict access.

Resolution:

  1. Confirm Salesforce is still connected under the Integrations page.
  2. Verify the workflow has permission to use Salesforce within your workspace governance settings.
  3. Check that workspace policies allow Salesforce execution for the relevant operators or workflows.

Creating or Updating CRM Records Fails

Likely Cause: Missing required custom fields, validation rule failures, duplicate rules, or mismatching field types.

Resolution:

  1. Check the execution logs to identify the exact validation error returned by Salesforce.
  2. Verify that all required fields (standard and custom) for the target object are provided.
  3. Ensure the values provided in the workflow comply with Salesforce validation rules and field type constraints.

Query or Search Operations Fail

Likely Cause: Malformed custom filter parameters, search keywords too short, or field type mismatch in filters.

Resolution:

  1. Confirm that fields specified in the query exist on the target object.
  2. Ensure search keywords are properly formatted and contain valid characters.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is my Salesforce password shared with or stored by Supervity?

No. Supervity uses Salesforce's standard OAuth 2.0 authorization flow. Your Salesforce password is never shared with or stored by Supervity. Only scoped access tokens are stored, and these are encrypted at rest using AES-256.

Q: Can I connect a Salesforce Sandbox environment?

Yes. During the connection setup under Integrations → Salesforce → Connect, enter your Sandbox login URL (typically https://test.salesforce.com) in the Login URL domain box.

Q: Will I need to reconfigure my workflows after reconnecting Salesforce?

No. If you reconnect Salesforce due to token expiry or permission changes, existing workflow definitions and operators do not need to be recreated or reconfigured.

Q: What happens to my workflows if I disconnect or remove Salesforce?

Workflow definitions are not deleted when Salesforce is disconnected or removed. However, any workflow steps that depend on Salesforce will fail safely with clear error messages until Salesforce is reconnected.

Q: How do I authorize the Supervity Salesforce integration?

Log in to Supervity at Supervity, navigate to the Integrations page from the left navigation bar, locate Salesforce, and click Connect. If necessary, enter your login domain URL, then click Proceed. You will be redirected to Salesforce's authorization page where you can log in and allow requested permissions. After authorization, you will be redirected back to Supervity automatically.
