Miro Integration
'Connect Miro to Supervity, manage boards, create sticky notes, shapes, text widgets, and automate board content in operators and workflows.'
This guide explains how to connect Miro to Supervity, what data is available after connection, how operators can use Miro data and actions within workflows, and how to remove the integration when needed.
Overview
The Supervity Miro integration allows your workspace to securely connect Miro as a governed platform capability.
Once connected, operators and workflows can use Miro data and actions to manage board lists, build project timelines, retrieve user details, organize team spaces, and create, update, or remove widgets on the board canvas.
With the Miro integration, Supervity can:
- Create, list, retrieve, and clone collaborative boards
- Add, update, and retrieve board items (sticky notes, shapes, cards, text)
- Read canvas coordinates, coordinates mapping, and layouts
- Use Miro board contents as visual workspace context for operators
- Automate report generation or workflow steps directly on board canvas
All Miro access is governed through Supervity's security, permissions, and audit controls.
Prerequisites
Before connecting Miro, ensure you have:
- An active Supervity workspace
- An active Miro account (Free, Starter, Business, or Enterprise)
Adding the Miro Integration
Follow these steps to connect Miro to Supervity. If you encounter any issues during setup, refer to the Troubleshooting section of this guide.
Step 1: Open Integrations
- Log in to Supervity.
- From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.
This opens the Integrations page, where all available integrations are listed. Connected integrations and available integrations can both be managed from this page.
Step 2: Select Miro
- Locate Miro in the available integrations list.
- Click Connect.
Step 3: Authorize Access
- You will be redirected to Miro's secure authorization page.
- Select the Miro Team Workspace you want to connect to Supervity, review the requested permissions, and click Install & Authorize (or Allow) to grant Supervity access.
Supervity uses Miro's standard OAuth 2.0 authorization flow. Your Miro credentials are never shared with or stored by Supervity.
Step 4: Complete Connection
After authorization, you will be redirected back to Supervity.
The Miro integration will appear as Connected on the Integrations page. Your workspace can now securely access Miro capabilities according to the permissions granted.

How Miro Works in Supervity
After connection, Miro becomes available as a governed platform tool.
Operators can use Miro capabilities when planning and executing tasks, while workflows can automate actions using Miro data.
Common use cases include:
- Auto-generating retrospective boards after project milestones
- Converting sprint logs into Miro user story maps and cards
- Synchronizing board sticky notes into project management tasks
- Building visual mind maps from raw document parsing
- Creating process flows and diagram layouts programmatically
Using Miro in Operators
Connected Miro capabilities become available to operators automatically. Operators determine when Miro data or actions are required to complete a task and execute accordingly, while remaining governed by workspace permissions, security controls, and approval policies.
What Operators Can Do with Miro
Operators can perform the following actions using Miro:
- Query the connected account's user profile
- List teams and boards inside the workspace
- Create, retrieve, update, and delete boards
- Create, list, modify, and delete elements on the board canvas (like sticky notes, text, cards, and shapes)
Typical Operator Use Cases
| Use Case | Example |
|---|---|
| Board Generation | Create a new project kickoff board populated with standard template frames |
| Sticky Note Sync | Extract all user-generated sticky notes from a brainstorming board to a summary |
| Task Card Mapping | Convert task lists into Miro visual cards organized into swimlanes |
| Canvas Cleaning | Automatically delete temporary elements or old sticky notes from an active board |

Supervity follows least-privilege principles and only accesses data necessary to provide requested functionality.
Authentication & Security
The Miro integration uses OAuth 2.0 authentication.
Security controls include:
- Encrypted credential storage (AES-256)
- Scoped access policies
- Token refresh and rotation support
- Immediate revocation capabilities
- Workspace-level governance controls
- Complete audit logging
- TLS 1.3 for all connection pipelines
All Miro access remains subject to Supervity security policies and role-based permissions.
Managing the Integration
View Connection Status
From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon.
For Miro you can view:
- Connection status
- Connected Miro Team name
- Last usage information
- Associated workflows and operators
Reconnect Miro
If Miro authorization expires: Open the Integrations page from the left navigation bar. Select Miro. Click Reconnect. Complete authorization again through the Miro portal.
Existing workflows and operators do not need to be recreated.
Removing the Miro Integration
You can remove the Miro connection from your Supervity workspace at any time directly from within the Supervity platform.
Steps to Remove
Log in to Supervity. From the left navigation bar, click the Integrations icon. Locate and select Miro from the integrations list. Click Disconnect. Confirm the action when prompted.
Implications of Removal
Once removed:
- Supervity immediately loses all access to your Miro account and boards
- No new Miro data will be read or processed after removal
- All active Miro connections within your Supervity workspace are terminated
- Scheduled or active workflows that depend on Miro will stop executing
- Miro-dependent workflow steps will fail safely with clear error messages
- Existing workflow definitions within Supervity are not deleted — only the active connection is terminated
- Historical execution logs remain available for auditing purposes
Disconnecting Miro does not delete workflow definitions, operators, or previously generated outputs.
How Your Data Is Handled After Removal
Data Handling on Removal:
- Supervity immediately loses access to your Miro account upon removal
- No new Miro board or canvas item data will be collected or processed after disconnection
- Temporary files processed during workflow execution are deleted after execution completes
- Miro access tokens and all account-related data are permanently deleted from Supervity's platform within 15 minutes of disconnection — no background access continues after removal
Auditing & Observability
All Miro activity performed through Supervity is logged.
Audit records include:
- Which operator requested access
- Which workflow executed the action
- Timestamp of execution
- Success or failure status
- Relevant inputs and outputs (sensitive values are redacted)
This supports compliance, troubleshooting, governance, and operational visibility.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues at any stage, refer to the steps below. For issues not covered here, contact the Supervity support team.
Authorization Failed During Setup
Likely Cause: Incorrect Miro account used, or corporate tenant policies restricting third-party applications.
Resolution:
- Ensure you are signed in to the correct Miro account.
- Verify with your organization's IT administrator that your account is allowed to authorize third-party applications (Admin Consent may be required).
- Return to Supervity → Integrations → Miro and click Connect to retry.
- If the issue persists, contact your IT administrator.
Board Access Forbidden
Likely Cause: The target board belongs to a different team space, or board permissions prevent access.
Resolution:
- Verify the board is located inside the Miro Team Workspace connected to Supervity.
- Ensure the user who connected the integration has editor or owner access to the target board.
- Check if the board has been deleted or moved to Miro's trash.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can I connect multiple Miro teams to Supervity?
Yes. Each connected team space is authenticated independently. You can configure and connect multiple Miro teams in your workspace settings.
Q: Does Supervity store my Miro password?
No. Authentication is handled completely via standard OAuth 2.0. Supervity only receives and stores securely encrypted access tokens.
Q: Can I limit which boards Supervity can access?
Miro's OAuth permissions grant access at the workspace/team level. However, Supervity respects the specific board sharing, access levels, and security settings established on your Miro account.
Q: Will I need to reconfigure my workflows after reconnecting Miro?
No. If you reconnect Miro due to token expiry, existing workflows and operators will continue working without reconfiguration.
Q: What happens to my workflows if I disconnect or remove Miro?
Workflow definitions are not deleted when Miro is disconnected or removed. However, any workflow steps that depend on Miro will fail safely with clear error messages until Miro is reconnected.
Q: How do I authorize the Supervity Miro integration?
Log in to Supervity at Supervity, navigate to the Integrations page from the left navigation bar, locate Miro, and click Connect. You will be redirected to Miro's authorization page where you can review and approve the requested permissions. After authorization, you will be redirected back to Supervity automatically.
